Who are "The Boys at Mission Control" ?
I used to subscribe to a trader named Bill Albert. He is one of the best traders that I’ve ever seen. Bill had great stories, and “the boys at mission control” were up to no good most of the time.
A small group of investment banks control a great deal of the money in the market. Do they have a place called mission control? Likely, but they might use the phrase “war room” or “trading desk” or something like that. Are they all boys? Probably not.
Their job is to invest billions of dollars at the lows, run up the market, and sell those investments to retail investors at the highs. The process is called distribution, and they are good at it. If this makes you mad, remember that by following them we do the same exact thing.
Most people think that the darkpools buy the absolute lows and sell the top. It doesn’t work like that. The darkpools are constantly buying and selling. In a trough, sometimes you see heavier prints during the day which can be buying or short covering. They really like to buy into strength and keep riding. Then you’ll see heavy prints at a crest. When price starts diving under those, it’s time to get out and wait for them to start the cycle all over again.
From time to time, I’ll write a quick article like this. My next one will discuss the different types of prints.
