Folks,
Many new people have joined the Substack in the last few weeks, so links to all the educational posts are at the bottom of this article. I’m going to give a little background today, so just skip down there if you only want to see the links.
Background
I’ve wanted to write for a long time. My first attempt at writing didn’t go so well. If you write something and not many people are interested in the topic, it doesn’t matter if you are good or not. Fast forward to 2020. I was bored during the lockdowns and wrote an application to pull large trades from market tick data. Yes, the app looks at every trade during the day on about 600 tickers. I started posting large trades and levels on Twitter.
Over time, people started asking more and more questions about the posts. My app isn’t user friendly, so the nightly darkpool wrapup in Substack was born on October 7 of this year. I decided to give out SPY data for free and charge 12 bucks for the full version to help cover time and costs. The full version includes QQQ analysis, Macro Trend (trades > $40M), Large Trades, Unusual / Out of Place Trades, Close Prints, and a summary of the day.
One of my 2023 goals is to write more educational articles, but I need your help. Sometimes things that are obvious to me are not so easy for everyone else. If you have questions for me, post a comment here or send me a DM on Twitter @brianbalance I’ll use your feedback to write more educational content.
